Describing herself as an 'acoustic-folk-soul artist with jazzy tendencies', Mataji Booker combines classical guitar rhythms with a passion for story-telling and folk-soul blues. On stage she takes you in like a friend at a dinner party - her songs, crafted like a warm meal served up with a generous vulnerability. A native of Los Angeles, CA, her unique brand of folk-soul music has taken her as to Barcelona, Mexico, Japan and most notably performing twice on Maurizio Costanzo's SKY Network's talk show STELLA in Rome, Italy.
"I write uncomplicated songs about complex things: Love, redemption and rebirth. My music comes from a perspective of loss, addiction and healing as I deconstruct hard to have conversations. As an "acoustic-folk-soul artist I aim to fuse my love of storytelling with my passion for folk, jazz and the blues.
